A destination in the Cordilleras are three of the peaks in Bakun, Benguet. As the three most commonly climbed mountains in the town, they are fondly called ‘Bakun Trio’ and are usually climbed in one trip to maximize the journey.

Day 1: Mt Lubo

6:30AM Dahil hindi pa nag bbreakfast and grupo, we stop at Everman's Eatery, dito na nagbreakfast lahat at nagtake out ng pang lunch.
Our rented jeep at yun tatlong harkor

View across the eatery

Picture muna bago tumawid ng tulay

Wiwi break bago tumawid

We arrive 10:00 am direct to the jump off of Mt. Lubo, after short preparation and registration we start the trek.

The first part of trial is easy ascending, madadaanan ang isang village at taniman ng iba't ibang gulay. Mt Lubo (Mt Patullok) is consider a minor climb, parang pinaka practice climb mo na for the next days.

View along the trail, yun pa-triangle na peak is the Mt Lubo summit, lapit na!

Arrive at the gate

Assault mode

Poblacion surrounded by mountains, Mt Kabunian (Left), Mt Tenglawan (Right)

And after 1 hour and 30 minutes, summit na at may pa-hotdog si Mayor Tatang!

After picture taking at kumain, we immediately descend na, pagkadating sa jump off naghihintay na saamin ang malalamig na softdrinks.

Top load sa jeep to our homestay

Day 2: Mt Tenglawan

Wake up call 1:00 AM sobrang aga, well its a majority of the group to start this early, to avoid daw na makasabay ang ibang group, because this occasion dahil long weekend (Chinese New Year) madaming group ang successful na nakapag organized according to the Bakun Tourism nasa 125+ daw kame.

Cement stairs portion

Isa sa nagpahirap sa Mt Tenglawan ay ang ups and down trail, from jump off need to go down a semi steep descend to cross the Bakun River and assault again to reach one village kung saan nakatira ang mga assigned guides.

The trail to assault to summit is a very similar to Akiki Trail very steep and slightly slippery cause of the dry sand.

At eto na nga kada five steps pahinga.. struggle is real.

At this point of the trail, Mt Kabunian is seen.

If your reach this part, meaning malapit na sa campsite. Yey!

And exactly 8:20 AM we reach na the summit!

My buddy with the Carrot Peak
(Hindi na daw siya mag Mt Kabunian the next day dahil sa pagod :D)

From Carrot Peak and the view of Mt Tenglawan summit across.

The team who ascend from left:
Me, Jen, Jun-jun, Cabu, Cheska, Vincente

Lunch time beside ng summit. We were lucky hindi umulan days ago and that day so walang limatik!

Around 9:30 AM we start to descend na, avoiding the heat of sun.

Slippery part of the trail but looks not.

11:30 AM Nakababa na kame and the sun is getting hot!

Pointing the summit, around 10:00 AM nagstart nang mag fog sa peak, so yun mga nakasalubong namin na paakyat palang ehh mag 2x2 picture sila dun.

Take five :)

This part of the trail where the mobile data is strong and malapit na sa village.

Facebook muna w/ Vicente, Cheska and ate guide

Exactly 1:00 PM were almost there na sa village, pero picture-picture muna w/ this beautiful views including her <3.

Coffee shop at the village.
Sa halagang 15 pesos may legit local brew coffee kana!

3:00 PM we arrive at this bridge at Bakun River.

Day 3: Mt Kabunian

Eto na, kaya pa ba? kakayanin!
It's a good thing na we have a homestay, (It's actually the new Bakun Barangay hall na pinapa rent nila for 150p per day inclusion na dyan ang complete bedding, kitchen use at toilet.) kase makakapahinga ka talaga ng maayos to recharge for tomorrow's activity.

We started our hike at exactly 3:00 AM, first part is all stairs as in cement stairs na walang katapusan until you reach the other side of Bakun River, after makatwid ng hangging bridge stairs ulit, nonstop steep stairs, good thing madilim pa malamig less nakakapagod.

6:40 AM we reach this part, the summit is near na.

Take five, poccari mode!

Malapit na!

Liezel and Jeff

6:30 AM sunrise na :)

Mt Tenglawan, the other day lang andun kame..

Konting kembot nalang!

7:20 AM tada! Summit na!

Congrats sa buddy ko we reach the 3rd summit on 3rd day!

Signature shot sa summit

We spend lang almost 30 mins to take snacks at photo ops and ascend na to again avoid yun tirik na araw.

Ganda!

Bawal PDA please... (Photo shoot ng lovers)

Thank you Mt Kabunian for a sweet experience!

Mt. Kabunian is known as a enchanted mountain, the tourism officer told us not to wiwi kung saan-saan para iwas ligaw daw. This mountain for me is the hardest because of very steep and unli stairs pero yung view a breath taking.

Special thanks to...

Romeo vice head chef and nagpakain samin din
